Northern Tier Sports Report
A lot of action this Saturday between basketball and wrestling.

WRESTLING

Towanda at Jarvis Tournament: Towanda will be up at Athens for the Jarvis Tournament all day, with round robin wrestling featured. They expect to get their wrestlers a half dozen matches in the tournament.


NEB at Line Mountain Duals: The Panthers will look to get a bunch of matches of their own in as they head down south. Line Mountain is known for bringing in top competition from around the state.


GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Wellsboro (0-2) at Wyalusing (2-2), noon: The Rams will look to rebound from their loss against NPL as they face the Hornets for the second time this week. Wyalusing edged them by a 1-point earlier in the week.


Montoursville (0-4) at Towanda (5-0), noon: The Knights will look to improve to 6-0 with a Saturday lunchtime contest. The Warriors may be winless, but three of their losses were in competitive games against good teams from down south.


Troy (2-3) at Athens (5-1), noon: The Trojans will be looking to build off their win against Canton as they host last year’s NTL Showdown Champions. The Wildcats are undefeated in league play so far this season.


BOYS’ BASKETBALL

CV (1-4) at Towanda (1-2), 3 p.m.: The Knights will look to rebound from their 2-game losing streak this week as they host the Indians. CV is coming off a 53-41 loss to Sayre.


Troy (5-0) at Williamsport (3-1), 7 p.m.: The Trojans are coming off a big win over Canton but face Class 6A power Millionaires. Williamsport’s only loss on the year has come to Loyalsock and recently beat Altoona by 24 points.
