TOWANDA, WYALUSING JUNIOR HIGH TEAMS HOLD PINK GAMES (2024-01-09)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — The Junior High Girls and Boys basketball teams from Towanda and Wyalusing held PINK GAMES and battled on the court while also raising $514 to battle cancer. Every penny will be donated towards cancer research. Thank you VFW Post 1568 for donating $100 towards the lottery ticket raffle and Oliver's Pub and Grill and Sheetz for donating $25 gift cards towards the raffle. Thank you to all of the fans that came out and supported our local basketballers and donated to fight cancer.
GIRLS GAMES
Towanda junior high girls basketball took home a 41-20 win over Wyalusing. Taylor Aquilio led all scorers with 14 points followed by Reese Sullivan with 11 points and Mary Kate Eberlin with nine points. Ali Hollett sunk a three pointer. Kenzie Brown and Kenzie Vanderpool each scored two points.
For Wyalusing, Jenna Morningstar scored 11 points, both Riley O'Connor and Callee Warner scored three points, Lia Fisher dropped a bucket for two points and Ellie Adams chipped in with a point.
In the second girls game of the night, Towanda captured a 21-7 win and was led by Natalyn Morris with six points. Lennon Rice scored four points while London Decker, Maci Alexander, Secret Salsman, Ily Benjamin and Kendal Cook each scored two points. Ali Hollett scored one point.
For Wyalusing, Carlee Zawicki, Brianna Johnson and Allie Kuhn each scored two points and Katelyn Trowbridge scored a point.
BOYS GAMES
Towanda junior high boys basketball took home a 42-27 win over Wyaulsing. Keegan Stround led all scorers with 18 points followed by Boom Thompson with nine points and Josh Maye with six points. Lincoln Nash and Owen Savercool each scored three points. Kasyn Casselbury dropped a bucket for two points and Ryan Maynard scored a point.
For Wyalusing, Cameron Cole and Grayson Vaow scored seven points apiece. Mitchell Gesford scored six points and Noah Kilmer five points. Aiden Neiley scored two points.
In the second boys game of the night, Towanda captured a 32-12 win as Harper Welles, Ryot Vester, Ryan Hemphill and Owen Masteller each scored six points. Kix Carr scored four points and Gabe Wolf and Joey Montanya scored two points apiece.
For Wyalusing, Tinna scored six points. Tuttle, Price and Gonsauls each scored two points.
