Northern Tier Sports Report
TOWANDA — Page Manchester and Porschia Bennett scored 32 of the Towanda’s 51 points in the Knights’ 51-38 win over Montoursville in non-league girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Manchester finished with 20 points, five boards, four assists, three steals and two blocks in the effort as Bennett had 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Amanda Horton added six points while Bella Hurley had five points. Erin Barrett finished with four points and five rebounds as Gracie Schoonover and Ally Hurley had two points apiece. Schoonover also had six boards and two blocks.

Manchester got Towanda off to a good start, scoring eight first quarter points, with Bennett adding four, to give the Knights a 14-10 lead.

In the second quarter Towanda found the range, hitting three 3-pointers, while also clamping down on Montoursville, as they held them to seven points, to go up 30-17 at the half.

The Warriors fought back in the third quarter as Alaina Mareceoni scored eight of her 11 points while the Knights got to the free throw line 10 times, making seven of them, to keep it a 14 point lead, 44-30, after three quarters.

It was a low scoring fourth - Towanda had just one field goal - but they did more than enough defensively. While McKenzie Weaver scored seven of her game high 15 for the Warriors in the fourth, only one other player had a point for them.

Towanda (6-0) now hosts Millville on Monday.
