NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA LEADS AT THE HALF, BUT NPM RALLIES FOR WIN (2024-01-25)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda led at the half but NP-Mansfield’s Karson Dominick went off in the third quarter as the Tigers pulled ahead, then pulled away for a 62-46 win over Towanda during NTL boys’ basketball action Thursday.
Towanda jumped out to a 20-15 first quarter lead, then extended that to 29-23 at the half. However, a 23-3 third quarter in favor of NPM changed the game, and the Tigers never looked back.
Teagan Irish had 19 points to lead Towanda with Markel Garner adding 11. Bayley Poll scored nine, Darrius Farrell added five, and Connor Barnes finished with two.
Karson Dominick led NP-Mansfield with 30 points, while Jason Harer netted 13, and Dayton Strange scored 11, all in the second half.
Towanda started the game hot, hitting four 3-balls in the first frame as Irish scored nine points to give them the five point lead.
Irish would go on to have seven of his team’s nine points in the second for the 6-point lead at the break.
Dominick, who had 10 points at the half, exploded for 14 in the third while Strange added five to take a 46-32 lead into the fourth.
In the final frame Garner got Towanda’s offense back on track, scoring all 11 of his points, but Strange hit two 3-balls with Dominick also netting six points, to allow NPM to escape with the win.
Towanda (4-11) will travel to NEB on Saturday with a 7 p.m. start time.
