NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: TOWANDA BOUNCES BACK WITH WIN OVER ATHENS (2024-02-07)

ATHENS — Towanda broke a 3-game losing streak as they defeated Athens, 48-39, during NTL girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

Brynn Woodruff had a big night for the Knights, getting a double-double of 21 points and 15 boards to go with five steals and four blocks.

Mya Maynard had a double-double of her own with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Payton Perry added five points, five steals, and four rebounds.

Kennedy Heyer notched four points and two steals, with Melody Hakes getting two points, four boards, two steals, and five assists.

Alonna Ayres and Karis Flynn had one point each, with Ayres adding two steals and three assists.

Kenna Jarvis led Athens with 10 points.

The Knights jumped out to a 10-7 first quarter lead as Woodruff had six points. They extended that lead to 23-18 at the half behind a six point frame from Maynard.

Athens kept it close in the third, though Towanda continued to leak out ahead, extending their lead to 34-27 behind four points from Woodruff and Maynard.

Towanda netted 14 fourth quarter points as they hit seven free throws, behind an 8-point frame from Woodruff.

Towanda (9-11) hosts Troy on Friday.
