NTL WRESTLING: TOWANDA HAS FOUR REACH THE SEMIFINALS (2024-02-24)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Towanda saw four wrestlers work their way into the semifinals after the first day of the District IV Wrestling Championships Friday.
Tanner Vanderpool (114) and Sawyer Robinson (285) both went 2-0 to get into the final four, while Mason Higley (189) and Riley Vanderpool (145) each went 1-0.
Tanner got two falls on the day, the first two district wins of his career, and will face overall top seed, Line Mountain’s Brock Rothermel, in the semifinals.
Sawyer got a fall, and an 8-0 major decision, and gets second seed, South Williamsport’s Ryan Casella.
Riley Vanderpool scored a 13-5 major decision, and faces Southern Columbia’s Mason Barvitskie in the semis, while Higley won with a 15-0 technical fall, and gets Loyalsock’s Kaden Rodarmel in the semis.
Brayden Spencer (127), Chase Geurin (152), Curtis Maynard (107), Jace Gunther (172), Jazick Brown (133), Rylee Sluyter (139), and Zack Lantz (215) are all in the consolation bracket.
Geurin went 1-1 on the day, with Sluyter, Spencer, Maynard, Gunther, Brown, and Lantz all went 0-1.
Wrestling continues at 9 a.m. with the elimination round.
