NTL SOFTBALL: TROY GETS THEIR BATS GOING IN WIN OVER WYALUSING (2024-03-28)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — Troy pounded out 10 hits as they pulled away from Wyalusing, 15-0, in four innings during NTL softball action Thursday.

The Trojans scored six runs in the second, seven runs in the third, and two more in the fourth.

Lauren Ridall tossed a 1-hit shutout, striking out seven with one walk in four innings of action.

Ridall also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, 2-RBI, and a run scored, as Olivia Champluvier went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Madi Palmer (2-for-4) had 3-RBI with two stolen bases and a run scored with Caitlyn Knapp (2-for-2) getting a double with 2-RBI, and a run scored.

Sydnee Bellows (1-for-4) scored twice and drove in two runs as Kali Ayres (1-for-1) had three walks, three runs scored, and an RBI.

Amber James (1-for-4) scored twice with 2-RBI as Marlee Stanton (1-for-3) crossed home twice, as well. Lauren Reed would score, too.

Addisyn Bly (1-for-2) had the lone Wyalusing hit while Addison Fluck took the loss in the circle.

After a scoreless first inning Palmer got things going with a single in the second, followed by Knapp drawing a walk. Back to back fielders’ choices by the Wyalusing defense kept Troy off the scoreboard, but when Reed reached it loaded the bases.

That set up Ridall’s 2-run single, followed by Bellows’ 2-run hit for a 4-0 lead. After an Ayres walk Champluvier drove in Bellows with a hit, followed by Ayres scoring on an error off the bat of Palmer.

In the third Stanton led off with a walk, then reached third on Ridall’s double two batters later. Bellows reached on an error, followed by Ayres drawing a walk, which scored Stanton.

Champluvier reached on a fielder’s choice as Wyalusing got Ridall out at home. However, Palmer hit in Bellows and Ayres to make it 9-0.

Knapp’s hit would bring in Champluvier and Palmer followed by Knapp scoring on a James hit. James later scored on an error off the bat of Reed for the 13-0 lead.

In the fourth Ayres led off with a hit, followed by a Champluvier double putting runners on second and third. Palmer would ground out to bring in Ayres, followed by Champluvier scoring on a pass ball for the 15th run.

Troy (2-0) will travel to NP-Liberty Tuesday while Wyalusing (0-2) hosts defending district champions, South Williamsport, on Saturday at 1 p.m.
