NTL BOYS' TENNIS: TOWANDA FALLS TO WELLSBORO (2024-03-28)

WELLSBORO — Towanda lost 4-1 to the defending NTL champions, Wellsboro, during boys’ tennis action Thursday.

The first two singles matches were close, with Towanda's Bayley Poll beating Jacob Abadi 6-2, 6-4, while second singles went to three sets. Wellsboro’s Lucas Cuneo won 6-1 over Haven Poll in the first set, but Haven came back to win 6-4 in the second. Cuneo pulled out a 6-4 third set to the take the match.

At third singles Wellsboro’s Lue Rothermel won 6-2, 6-2 over Diego Oliver.

The Hornets swept doubles as the team of Hayden Zuchowski and Jose Wheeler won 6-1, 6-1 over Rian Hennessy and Matrix McCarter, while Isaac Macias and Wyatt Roth won 6-0, 6-0 against Jameson Harkness and Robbie Roof.

Towanda (2-1) will host Galeton next Thursday.
