NTL SOFTBALL: NEB PULLS AWAY FROM CANTON (2024-03-28)

CANTON — Northeast Bradford scored in every inning as they pulled away from Canton, 18-3 in five innings, during NTL softball action Thursday.

The Panthers scored five runs in the first, one in the second, three in the third, five in the fourth, and four more in the fifth. Canton nabbed two in the first, and then got another one across in the fifth.


“Luckily today we were able to get all the girls in, some of our freshmen,” said NEB coach MaKaylah Holbert. “A lot of girls had their first varsity hit, so, really, it was a team effort. We also got to have different girls pitching today.”


Hannah Berger (2-for-2) had two walks, 3-RBI, and two runs scored for the Panthers as Kelsea Moore (2-for-3) had 4-RBI with a run scored.


Toni Herb (2-for-5) knocked in two runs as Makenna Callear (1-for-2) walked three times and crossed home four times. 


Melanie Shumway (1-for-5) scored three times with Kiarra DeLancey (1-for-2) walking three times with 2-RBI, and four runs scored.


Orissa Gardner (1-for-3) scored and drove in a run as Jaylin Wheaton (1-for-2), Abby Keeney (1-for-1), and Alexis Corter (1-for-3) all scored.


Callear got the start, going four innings in the win, with three strikeouts, three walks two hits and two runs.


Kristina Larnerd went the final inning, striking out one with two hits, one walk, and one earned run.


Rylin Graham (2-for-2) had an RBI for Canton as Jaylee Ward (1-for-2) scored twice. Tiffany Acla (1-for-2) scored and drove in a run as Tara Gilbert also had an RBI.


Ward started, and went four innings in the loss, striking out three, while Gilbert pitched the final inning, with one strikeout.
