NTL BASEBALL: WYALUSING FALLS TO A HOT HITTING NP-MANSFIELD TEAM (2024-03-30)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WYALUSING — Wyalusing ran into a hard hitting NP-Mansfield team during their 9-3 loss in NTL baseball action Saturday, though some miscues in the field didn’t help, either.

Both teams scored a run in the first, with the Tigers adding another in the second, then two more in the third. After a scoreless fourth they got another in the fifth, then racked up four in the sixth to take a 9-1 lead.

The Rams got two back in the bottom half but could get no closer.

Trehnon Hugo (2-for-4) scored a run while CJ Carr (2-for-3) also had a multi-hit day. Nick Vanderpool (1-for-4) crossed home along with Hunter House as Parker Petlock had an RBI.

Petlock started, and took the loss, going three innings to strikeout one with five hits, one walk, and four earned runs. Carr went the next 2 2/3-innings with one strikeout, eight hits, and five runs, four of which were earned.

Vanderpool went the final 1 1/3-innings, allowing one hit and one walk.

Cody Hermanson (3-for-4) had a home run, two doubles, and 3-RBI for the Tigers, who had seven extra base hits. Alex Davis (3-for-4) had two doubles with two runs scored.

Cooper Shaw got the win, going 5 1/3-innings with two strikeouts, four hits, and three runs, none of which were earned.

Hugo would lead off the bottom of the first with a hit and later scored on an error. In the sixth Vanderpool led off with a hit and scored two batters later on an error off the bat of House.

House later scored on a fielder’s choice from Petlock’s bat for their final run.

Wyalusing (1-2) will travel to Athens on Wednesday.
