NTL SOFTBALL: FLUCK'S PITCHING, WYALUSING'S BATS POWER THEM PAST WELLSBORO (2024-04-14)

Northern Tier Sports Report
WELLSBORO — Maybe Wyalusing needed just a couple more weeks of practice. Despite not playing in two weeks the Rams broke out of their slump and rolled to a 15-0 win over Wellsboro in five innings during NTL softball action Sunday.

The game was called due to lightning in the bottom of the fifth.

“It felt good to get the first win,” said first year head coach Brett Jayne. “The girls’ bats came alive today. (Addison) Fluck pitched a great game, she had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning and gave up just the one hit. (Treanna) Nickeson, (Kylie) Pickett had great days at the plate. Allie Liddick hit the ball very well, also Addisyn Bly had a nice day at the plate and on the bases.”

Fluck retired 12 of the 16 batters she faced, striking out 11 with just the one hit.

Nickeson (3-for-4) had a triple with two runs scored, and an RBI with Pickett (2-for-3) getting a double, 4-RBI, and three runs scored.

Bly (2-for-3) scored three times, and drove in four runs, as Liddick (2-for-4) scored and had an RBI.

Fluck (1-for-2) had a double with 2-RBI while Josie Ferris (1-for-1) scored twice. Rachel Wilson scored twice with Raelea Harvey and Kenda Millard both crossing home, as Danielle Wilson drove in a run.

The Rams scored four runs in the first as Nickeson and Bly led off with back to back hits, with both driven in by Pickett’s single.

After a walk to Wilson Fluck’s double scored two more runs for the 4-0 lead.

They added six more runs in the second as Ferris led off with a walk. She was driven in by Nickeson’s triple, with Bly getting on with a walk. The two would be driven in by Pickett’s double for a 7-0 lead.

Pickett later scored on a Liddick hit, with Harvey reaching home on a passed ball, and Liddick scoring on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Danielle Wilson.

They scored two more runs in the third as Ferris led off with a hit, then scored on a Bly single. Bly would get home on a passed ball for the 12-0 lead.

Millard would score on a passed ball in the fourth, while in the fifth Pickett and Rachel Wilson both scored on passed ball.

Wyalusing’s (1-3) busy week continues this week as they host NP-Liberty on Monday.
