NTL BOYS' TENNIS: TOWANDA DROPS DOUBLE-HEADER TO GALETON (2024-04-15)

GALETON — Towanda boys’ tennis was swept in double-header action out at Galeton on Monday. They lost the first set 5-0, then fell in the second set 3-0.

In the first set Galeton’s Micah Batson won 6-0, 6-1 over Towanda’s Bayley Poll at first singles, while at second singles Riley Streich beat Towanda’s Haven Poll 6-2, 6-3. At third singles Galeton’s Braden Cimino defeated Diego Oliver 6-0, 6-0.


At first doubles Towanda’s duo of Rian Hennessy and Matrix McCarter fell 6-2, 6-4 to John Martin and Corben Basile. At second doubles Galeton’s team of Isaac Miller and Gavin Shutt won 6-0, 6-0 over Jameson Harkness and Robbie Roof.


They only finished the singles matches in the second set, with Bayley Poll making it closer against Batson this time around. He lost the sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), while at second singles Cimino beat Haven Poll 6-4, 6-1.


At third singles Streich beat Hennessey 6-1, 6-0.


Towanda (3-4) has lost four straight and will host Wellsboro Tuesday.
