NTL TRACK & FIELD: CANTON GIRLS SECOND AT QUAD MEET, NEB THIRD (2024-04-16)

ATHENS — The Canton girls took second at an NTL track and field quad-meet on Tuesday, with NEB third. On the boys’ side NEB was third with Canton fourth.

For the girls Athens won with 99 points followed by the Warriors (31), NEB (30), and Williamson (29), while for the boys Athens won with 91 points. Williamson (48) was second with NEB (33) third, and Canton (17) fourth.


In the girls’ pole vault Canton’s Kendall Kitchen set a new school record, winning the event in 10-feet, 3-inches. Kitchen also took second in the long jump at 15-feet, 4-inches.


Her teammate Daveian Crowley (13.27) won the 100 with Alexis McRoberts (18.92) third in the 100 hurdles.


Crowley (27.20) and Kitchen (28.11) went 2-3 in the 200 while Danah Wesneski (53.91) was third in the 300 hurdles.


NEB’s Lillie Maynard was second in the 400 at 1:03.83 with teammate Gracelyn Laudermilch winning the 800 in 2:27.24. Laudermilch also won the 1600 in 5:20.38.


NEB’s Becca VandeMark was third in the triple jump at 29-feet, 3 3/4-inches, while McRoberts was second in the discus in 101-feet, 1-inch.


Panther Cora Franklin (90-feet) was second in the javelin, with teammate Emma Neuber (31-feet, 1-inch) second in the shot put.


NEB won the 4x800 relay in 11:26.04.


On the boys’ side Canton’s duo of Thomas Guindon (20.45) and John Whitehead (21.22) went 1-2 in the 110 hurdles.


NEB’s Aiden Kapr (43.10) won the 300 hurdles with Creed Dewing (55.07) and Daniel Barrett (57.26) going 2-3 in the 400.


The Panther duo of Ryan Jones (2:11.73) and Dewing (2:13.56) went 2-3 in the 800, with Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster (4:50.84) taking third in the 1600. Jones (11:22.14) was second in the 3200.


Canton’s Wyatt Karpinski (131-feet, 4-inches) won the javelin with Kapr (127-feet, 2-inches) right behind in second.
