NTL SOFTBALL: TROY'S CAN'T FIND THE OFFENSE IN LOSS TO NPL (2024-04-18)

Northern Tier Sports Report
MANSFIELD — Troy couldn’t get their bats going in their 5-0 loss to NP-Liberty during NTL softball action on Thursday in a match-up of two undefeated squads.

The Mounties scored three runs in the first, then added two more in the third, more than enough for starting pitcher, MacKenzi Tice, who retired the first 11 batters she faced, and 21 of Troy’s 25 batters.

She finished with nine strikeouts, three hits, and two walks.

Kali Ayres (2-for-3) and Olivia Champluvier (1-for-3) had the three Trojan hits on the day. They didn’t get a runner past first until the seventh inning when they got runners in scoring position, but couldn’t move them across.

Ayres started, and took the loss, going 3 2/3-innings with two walks, five hits, and five runs, while Lauren Ridall went the final 2 1/3-innings with one strikeout, no walks, and two hits.

Haley Litzelman (1-for-3) had a home run for the Mounties with Nikki Kiscadden (2-for-3) hitting a triple.

Troy (4-1) returns to action on Friday as they host Wellsboro for a double-header, beginning at 3 p.m.
