AOW: TROY'S SENS, WYALUSING'S BLY PUT UP BIG WEEKS (2024-04-21)
Northern Tier Sports ReportArea teams finally got a full season of action in - it only took until halfway through the spring season - even if the weather still wasn’t always very spring-like. That led to a plethora of powerful performances from across the diamonds to the track to the courts.
Troy’s Avery Sens won the shot put title at the prestigious Bald Eagle Invitational this past week with a personal best throw of 49-feet, 8 1/2-inches. He currently leads the district in the event, and has the ninth longest throw in the state of Pennsylvania for Class AA - good enough to earn him Male Athlete of the Week honors.
On the girls’ side Wyalusing softball came into the week 0-3 with six games on the docket. They went 4-2 to claw their back to .500, their only losses coming to undefeated NP-Liberty. A lot of hands went into accomplishment, especially Addisyn Bly, who batted over .500 for the week with a home run, two doubles, 9-RBI, and 12 runs scored to be the Female Athlete of the Week.
