ON TAP TODAY: SEVERAL CONTESTS TO START THE WEEK (2024-04-22)

Northern Tier Sports Report
Several teams will be competing on the baseball and softball diamonds today, though only NEB softball will be home.

SOFTBALL

Towanda (3-3) at South Williamsport (7-1), 4:30 p.m.: A tough test for the Knights as they take on the defending district champions in Class AA. Towanda is coming off a big win over Athens with South seeing their 7-game win streak ending against Loyalsock.


CV (9-1) at NEB (5-3), 4:30 p.m.: A make-up from the season opening weekend. The Panthers lost to CV just this past Friday, and will look to even things up in the NTL standings when they host them this time.


Wyalusing (4-5) at Susquehanna, 4:30 p.m.: The Rams have gotten themselves back in playoff contention thanks to a 4-2 week last week. With three games this week they’ll look to get over .500.


BASEBALL

Towanda (2-7) at South Williamsport (6-3), 4:30 p.m.: Towanda’s tough non-league schedule continues as they travel to South Williamsport after falling to D4, Class AA standings leaders Montgomery on Saturday.


NEB (6-3) at Sayre (3-4), 4:30 p.m.: The Panthers currently lead the D4, Class A playoff standings but only by a few mere percentage points. Sayre is coming off an 8-6 win over Athens.


BOYS’ TENNIS

Towanda (4-5) at NP-Liberty (2-5), 3 p.m.: A double-header for the Knights as they try to get back above .500 in order to make the team district competition.
