NTL BOYS' TENNIS: TOWANDA FALLS TO GALETON, EARNS SWEEP OVER NP-LIBERTY (2024-04-23)

TOWANDA — Towanda fell 5-0 to Galeton in non-league boys’ tennis action Tuesday, though it was a little closer than their double-header out there.

At first singles Bayley Poll lost 6-2, 6-2 to Micah Batson, while at second singles Haven Poll took Reilly Streich to three sets - winning the first 7-5, but losing the next two 6-3, 7-5.


At third singles Diego Oliver lost 6-1, 6-1 to Bradin Cimino 6-1, 6-1.


At first doubles Rian Hennessey and Matrix McCarty fell 6-4, 6-2 to John Martin and Corbin Basile, while at second doubles Jameson Harkness and Robbie Roof lost 6-0, 6-0 to Isaac Miller and Gavin Shutt.


Towanda did sweep NP-Liberty in NTL double-header action, beating them 4-1 in the first match, and 3-2 in the second.


At first singles Bayley Poll edged Daniel Harman 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, while at second singles Haven Poll defeated Riley Novitske 6-2, 7-5.


At third singles Oliver won 6-2, 6-1 over James Nearhoof.


At first doubles Hennessey and McCarty beat Owen Loudenslager and Ayden Deitrick 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, while at second doubles NPL’s Ray Nickerson and Austin Yungwirth won 6-1, 6-0 over Harkness and Roof.


In the second match Bayley Poll edged Harman, again, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 at first singles while Haven Poll defeated Novitske 6-0, 6-3.


Oliver beat Nearhoof 6-4, 6-1 at third singles.


Loudenslager and Deitrick picked up the first doubles win over McCarty and Hennessey, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. At second doubles Nickerson and Yungwirth won 6-0, 6-2 against Harkness and Roof.


Towanda (7-6) will travel to South Williamsport on Thursday with a 3 p.m. start for a double-header.
