NTL BASEBALL: WYALUSING USES FAST START TO DOWN TOWANDA (2024-04-24)

WYSOX — Wyalusing used an 8-run first inning to pull away from Towanda for a 17-2 win in four innings during NTL baseball action Wednesday.

The Rams scored five more in the second to take a 13-0 lead after two. They scored four in the fourth to go up 17-0.

Towanda broke through in the bottom half of the inning with two runs for the 17-2 final.

Hunter House (3-for-4) had a home run, a double, 4-RBI and a run scored for the Rams as CJ Carr (2-for-3) had two doubles, scored three runs, and drove in three runs.

Trehnon Hugo (2-for-3) scored twice and drove in a run as Isaac Shaffer (1-for-2) had a double with 2-RBI and two runs scored.

Casey God (1-for-2) and Kaeden Kusmierz (1-for-3) both scored and drove in a run as Nick Vanderpool (1-for-3) had 3-RBI with a run scored.

Kenny Mapes scored and had an RBI with Parker Petlock finding home twice.

House went three innings for the win, striking out six with one walk and no hits. Carr went the final inning with one strikeout, two hits, one walk, and two earned runs.

Jack Wheaton (1-for-2) had a double with a run scored as Dawson Butts (1-for-2) drove in two runs. Gianni Assante Di Cupillo walked twice and scored.

Butts started and went a third of an inning for the loss, striking out one with three walks, two hits, and seven runs. Wheaton pitched 1 1/3-innings with two strikeouts, one walk, six hits, and six runs.

Teagan Irish went 2 1/3-innings with one strikeout, one walk, three hits, and four runs.

Wyalusing led off the game with back to back walks, as Hugo singled in Carr for a 1-0 lead. After an out House took the first delivery over the centerfield fence for a 3-run homer to make it 4-0.

God was then hit by a pitch, later scoring on an error off the bat of Kusmierz. Petlock kept things going with a walk.

After a second out Carr doubled in Kusmierz and Petlock to make it 7-0, then Carr scored on a Vanderpool single for the 8-0 lead.

Hugo led off the second with a walk, followed by House getting a hit two batters later. A God single brought in Hugo, followed by Kusmierz driving in House’s courtesy runner, Liam Franklin, to make it 10-0.

After an out Shaffer doubled in God and Kusmierz, then scored on a Carr double for the 13-0 lead.

In the fourth Petlock reached on an error, followed by a walk to Shaffer. Carr loaded the bases after getting on with a fielder’s choice.

An error off the bat of Vanderpool scored Petlock and Shaffer for the 15-0 lead.

Mapes would plate Carr on a fielder’s choice two batters later, then House doubled in Mapes to make it 17-0.

In the bottom half Towanda was able to score with two outs as Wheaton hit a double, followed by Assante walking. A single by Butts allowed both to score for the 17-2 final.

Both teams are in action on Friday with Wyalusing (6-3) at NTL Division-I leading Troy while Towanda (3-8) hosts NP-Mansfield.
