NTL SOFTBALL: TOWANDA FALLS TO LEAGUE LEADING NPL (2024-04-26)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWYSOX — Towanda fell 9-1 to undefeated NP-Liberty in NTL softball action Friday.
The Mounties jumped out with three runs in the first, then scored three more in the third. They made it 8-0 with two in the fifth, while Towanda pushed one across in the bottom half of the inning.
NPL got their final run in the sixth for the 8-run difference.
Payton Perry (1-for-4) had an RBI with Brynsen Vargason (1-for-3) scoring their run. Layla Miller (1-for-3) had a double as Brooklyn Evans (1-for-3), Aleah Johnson (1-for-3), and Tae-Lynn Brabant (1-for-3) also had hits.
Johnson took the loss, striking out two with no walks, 11 hits, and nine runs, four of which were earned.
In the fifth Vargaosn had a 1-out single, with Miller doubling to put runners on second and third. That set up Perry’s infield hit that scored Vargason.
Towanda (5-5) will host Wellsboro on Monday.
