NTL SOFTBALL: NEB USES LONG BALL TO TOP SUSQUEHANNA (2024-05-11)

Northern Tier Sports Report
NEB started cold but finished hot as they rolled past Susquehanna, 16-3, during non-league softball action.

Kiarra DeLancey, Kelsea Moore, and Alexis Corter all had home runs in the win as Makenna Callear struck out 11 to get the win.


NEB was down 1-0 after three but a 2-run fourth put them on top. Susquehanna came back with a run in the bottom half of the inning, but the Panthers out scored them 13-1 the rest of the way.


Moore (3-for-5) had 5-RBI with two runs scored as DeLancey (2-for-3) had three runs scored and 2-RBI. Corter (1-for-4) also drove in three runs.


Isabella Kapr (3-for-5) scored and drove in a run with Callear (3-for-4) getting a double, a run scored, and an RBI.


Hannah Berger (1-for-4) had a double with three runs scored, as Jaylin Wheaton (1-for-2) had a double with a run scored.


Melanie Shumway (2-for-4) scored and drove in three runs as Zaelea Lane (1-for-1) crossed home. Ava Lambert (1-for-2) had a hit with Makenzie Clark crossing home. Toni Herb (1-for-2) scored twice and walked three times.


To go with her double digit strikeouts Callear allowed three hits, three runs, and two walks.


Both Berger and Herb scored in the fourth inning, while in the fifth Moore hit her 3-run home run to put NEB up 5-2.


In the sixth Shumway had a 2-run single, while DeLancey hit her 2-run home run as part of their 5-run inning to take a 10-2 lead.


In the seventh Moore had a 2-RBI double while Corter finished things off with a 3-run home run.


The win clinches NEB (10-7) a playoff spot as they travel to Sayre on Monday.
