Northern Tier Sports ReportPlenty of action around the area today as Troy baseball can clinch a league title, while doubles tennis hits the courts.
BOYS’ TENNIS
District IV Doubles at Williamsport, 9 a.m.: Towanda will have two teams at the D4 Championships, which begin Monday and will finish on Wednesday.
BASEBALL
Canton (14-4) at Montoursville (12-3), 4:30 p.m.: Canton has two road games left and they’re doozies. Montoursville is the second seed in the Class 4A standings, and has won nine of their last 11 games. Canton is coming off a tough loss to Wyalusing.
Troy (13-4) at Sayre (5-10), 4:30 p.m.: A win by Troy clinches the NTL Division-I title for them, it tightens their hold on the second seed, and it ends any chance of Sayre making districts.
SVEC (2-15) at NEB (11-6), 4:30 p.m.: NEB still has a shot to catch Millville for the top seed in the playoffs, and likely home field for the final if neither Benton nor CV can sneak in. This is one of three games left on the docket for the Panthers.
SOFTBALL
Canton (4-13) at Towanda (9-8), 4:30 p.m.: A win by the Knights clinches their district berth. They have a few games this week to try and move up the standings, they’re currently seventh.
NEB (10-7) at Sayre (3-11), 4:30 p.m.: NEB clinched their district spot last week, so now they’re be focused on. moving up the standings. They’re currently seventh but very close to East Juniata in sixth.
