NTL BASEBALL: TROY ROLLS PAST CV IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE (2024-05-14)

Northern Tier Sports Report
EAST TROY — Troy rolled past CV, 9-3, in NTL baseball action as they wrapped up their regular season.

The Trojans led 5-2 after one, with CV cutting it to 5-3 midway through the third. Troy tacked on two more runs in the bottom half of the inning, then scored two more in the fifth for the 9-3 final.

Reed Palmer (1-for-4) had a home run with 3-RBI as Joseph Frye (2-for-2) scored twice and drove in two runs. Lincoln Chimics (2-for-3) also scored twice with Mason Smith (1-for-3) getting an RBI with a run scored.

Camryn Harwick (1-for-2) scored and drove in a run as Brendan Gilliland (1-for-3) and Clayton Smith (1-for-4) also crossed home. Jackson Taylor (1-for-1) had an RBI.

Harwick started, and took the win, going two innings with two strikeouts, four walks, two hits, and two runs scored.

Palmer went the final five innings with three strikeouts, three walks, one hit batsman, three hits, and one run.

After getting down 2-0 to start the game Troy started strong in the first with Mason Smith getting hit by a pitch. He later scored on a wild pitch.

Clayton Smith would singled, followed by Gilliland getting beaned. Palmer then cleared the bases with his 3-run home run for a 4-0 lead.

After an out Chimics singled, then scored on a Harwick hit to make it 5-2.

In the third Harwick led off by getting hit, then scored on a Frye single. Frye would score on a sacrifice by Taylor to make it 7-3.

In the fifth Chimics reaches don a hit, then scored two batters later on a Frye hit. Frye was brought around on a Mason Smith single for the 9-3 final.

Troy (15-4) will see who they host in the first round of the District IV, Class AA playoffs Saturday - weather permitting. They’re currently the second seed, and look good to hold onto it, but South Williamsport is close enough to leap frog them if the ratings change.
