Northern Tier Sports ReportA very buys day highlighted by the first day of the District IV Track and Field Championships.
TRACK & FIELD
District IV Championships at Williamsport, 5 p.m.: The field events begin at 5 p.m. with boys’ long jump, girls’ discus, and boys’ javelin featuring area kids. After that will be boys’ shot put and girls’ long jump. Track events start at 6 p.m. with the 100 dash preliminaries, followed by high hurdle prelims. Their semifinals will follow, then the finals for the 4x800 relays.
BASEBALL
Williamson (2-16) at Towanda (6-12), 4:30 p.m.: The first of a double header for the Knights as they look to keep their recent win streak going.
Wellsboro (7-11) at Towanda (6-12), 5:45 p.m.: The Knights will be going for the season sweep, having beaten the Hornets earlier this year.
SOFTBALL
Williamson (9-10) at Towanda (11-8), 3:30 p.m.: A must win for the Warriors to get into the playoffs as they’ve won seven of their last eight games. Towanda is on a 4-game win streak of their own.
Tunkhannock at Wyalusing (9-10), 4:30 p.m.: The Rams will also be looking to clinch a playoff berth with a win against a tough Tunkhannock squad. This will be Wyalusing’s Pink Game.
Canton (4-15) at Montgomery (12-6), 4:30 p.m.: The Warriors will wrap up their season at D4 power Montgomery, who is coming off a loss to Williamson.
