Northern Tier Sports Report
A busy week as districts gets started in earnest on the diamond while the area’s top track and field athletes head to Shippensburg University for the PIAA Championships.

TRACK & FIELD

Friday, May 24 & Saturday, May 25

PIAA Championships at Shippensburg University, 9 a.m.: An early start for both days as all five area teams will have somebody competing at the championships.


BASEBALL

Monday, May 20

Southern Columbia at Troy, 4 p.m.: Their Saturday game was washed out so the District IV, Class AA quarterfinal will be played this day. The winner will face South Williamsport on Wednesday in the semifinals.


Wednesday, May 22

Wyalusing vs Montgomery/Northwest: The Rams will face the winner of those two teams in the semifinals at a time and place to be determined.


Friday, May 24

NEB vs Millville at Bowman Field, 4 p.m.: The District IV, Class A title game as the Panthers look to defend their district title.


SOFTBALL

Tuesday, May 21

Wyalusing at East Juniata, 4:30 p.m.: A preliminary for the Rams as they take the long trip down to EJ. The winner will face top seed South Williamsport on Friday.


Wednesday, May 22

Towanda at Loyalsock, 4:30 p.m.: The Class 3A quarterfinal match-up. Last year the Knights upset the Lancers as an eight-one seed match-up, this year they’re 7-2.


Friday, May 24

Northwest at Troy, 4:30 p.m.: The 4-5 match-up for the quarterfinals of the District IV, Class AA playoffs. Northwest lost to Wyalusing earlier this year, a team that Troy swept.


NEB at CV, 4:30 p.m.: The 3-6 match-up for the quarterfinals of the District IV, Class AA playoffs. CV swept NEB this past year, though NEB knocked CV out of the playoffs a season ago.
