ON TAP TODAY: TROY, WYALUSING INTO D4 BASEBALL SEMIFINALS, TOWANDA SOFTBALL OPENS PLAYOFFS (2024-05-22)

A big day for three area teams as Troy and Wyalusing play in the District IV, Class AA baseball semifinals and Towanda opens their softball playoffs at Loyalsock.

BASEBALL

Troy vs South Williamsport at Mansfield University, 4:30 p.m.: The Mounties beat Troy back in game three of their season but a lot has happened since then. Troy rolled past Southern Columbia into the final four with South beating Muncy, 8-2.

Wyalusing vs Montgomery at Williamsport, 6:30 p.m.: The Rams will get their chance to play at Mountaineer Mountain, Williamsport’s new facility. Wyalusing eked out a 4-3 win over Canton to get into the semifinals, with top seeded Montgomery beating Northwest 8-0.

SOFTBALL

Towanda at Loyalsock, 4:30 p.m.: The Black Knights upset the Lancers as an eight seed a year ago. This time as a seventh seed they’ll be looking to do it again.
