NTL TRACK & FIELD: WYALUSING'S HALEY, JOHNS JUST MISS MEDALS AT STATES (2024-05-24)
Northern Tier Sports ReportSHIPPENSBURG — Wyalusing’s two state qualifiers missed the medal stand on the first day of the PIAA Track and Field Championships Friday.
Wyalusing’s Olivia Haley was third in her heat in the 400 at 1:00.03 but took 18th overall. The senior started strong but wasn’t able to sustain it in a very competitive 400 field. She ends her high school career as a 3-time state qualifier.
In the boys’ high jump Dylan Johns just missed the medal stand, taking 11th in 6-feet, 2-inches.
The final three podium spots came down to misses as all three jumpers finished at 6-feet, 2-inches.
Johns cleared at 5-feet, 8-inches, but had one miss each at 5-feet, 10-inches and 6-feet, while the medalists were clean up through 6-feet, 2-inches.
The sophomore will be looking to return next season.
