Northern Tier Sports Report
It was a solid year for the Towanda boys’ tennis team, as they qualified for team districts and battled for the NTL title.

The Knights went 8-8 on the season, their only league losses two hard fought matches against Wellsboro.

They opened with three straight wins, beating NPL (3-2), Tunkhannock (4-1), and CV (5-0).

After two losses they edged Muncy (3-2) to improve to 4-2.

A 3-match losing streak saw them fall to 4-5, but they rebounded with a win over CV (5-0), and a sweep of NPL (3-2, 4-1).

Three more losses put their season on the brink, but a 3-2 win over Muncy at home sent them to team districts.

In the playoffs they lost to Wellsboro in a hard fought 3-2 battle.

In singles action Haven Poll got a win while in doubles the duo of Rian Hennessey and Diego Oliver nearly pulled off an upset.

Individual Towanda’s Bailey Poll had the second highest winning percentage in the NTL, going 12-5 at .706, playing out of first singles.

Haven Poll went 9-9 playing out of second singles, as Diego Olivier went 6-7 in third singles.

In doubles action the team of Hennessey and Matrix McCarter went 5-7 at first doubles.

As they look to next season the Knights will say good-bye to Haven Poll and Oliver, but return their other top three players as they look to be competitive in the NTL race.
