THE LADY LIGHTNING BLUE TEAM WON THE SWING INTO SUMMER SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT (2024-06-09)

Northern Tier Sports Report
The Lady Lightning Blue team went 4-1 over the weekend to win the Swing into Summer Softball Tournament.

On Saturday they beat the PA Enforcers 8-1 and the PA Lunachicks 12-0, but lost to the Lady Dukes SCPA-Jenkins 3-2.


On Sunday they beat the Lunachicks 12-0 again, then beat the Enforcers 5-1 in the finale.


In the first win over the Enforcers Kelsea Moore (2-for-3) and Kiarra DeLancey (2-for-2) had 3-RBI with a run scored as DeLancey also had a triple.


Makenna Callear (2-for-3) scored a run with Hannah Berger (1-for-2) getting a triple with a run scored.


Olivia Thompson (1-for-2) had an RBI with Toni Herb (1-for-1), Savannah Persun (1-for-2), Madi Lord (1-for-3), and Kynlee Kunkle all scoring runs. Ashley Neiley chipped in with an RBI.


Persun got the win, striking out seven with two walks, five hits, and one earned runs in five innings of action.


In the loss to the Lady Dukes the Blue led 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth, but the Dukes walked it off with a pair of runs.


Neiley (2-for-2) had an RBI with Herb (1-for-2) and Gretchen Schmieg scoring the runs. Persun (1-for-2) also had a hit.


Callear got the start, and went five innings with four strikeouts, one walk, two hits, and an earned run. Persun pitched the sixth, with two strikeouts, one hit, one walk, and two unearned runs to take the loss.


In the Saturday win over the Lunachicks Berger (2-for-2) had an RBI with Kunkle (2-for-3) scoring a run. 


Persun (1-for-1) had a triple with two runs scored as Schmieg (1-for-2) scored a run and had an RBI. Callear (1-for-2) also drove in a run as Moore and Lord scored twice, with Herb and Neiley also crossing home. Thompson (1-for-2) scored twice, as well.


Moore got the win in the circle, going three innings with nine strikeouts, one walk, no hits, and no runs.


In the Sunday win over the Lunachicks Berger (2-for-2) and Lord (1-for-2) both had home runs with 3-RBI. Lord also scored twice.


Herb (2-for-2) scored a run and drove one in as DeLancey (2-for-2) also crossed home. Persun (1-for-2) and Schmieg (1-for-1) each scored, with Kunkle and Neiley both scoring twice. Thompson chipped in with a run scored, too.


Callear got the win, going two innings with five strikeouts, two walks, and two hits, with no runs. Persun tossed the final inning, with three strikeouts and one hit.


Blue used a pair of runs in the second and third innings to take the title in their second win over the Enforcers.


Persun (3-for-3) had a double with two runs scored and an RBI as Herb (2-for-3) and Kunkle (2-for-4) each had multi-hit games. Kunkle also scored a run.


DeLancey (1-for-4) had a double with a run scored, and an RBI, as Thompson (1-for-3) had 2-RBI.


Berger (1-for-4) drove in a run with Lord (1-for-3) scoring. Schmieg (1-for-3) also had a hit.


Persun went the distance in the win, striking out 10 with one walk, five hits, and one unearned run.
