YOUTH: RTL MAJORS BASEBALL NABS WALK-OFF WIN OVER TUNKHANNOCK (2024-07-01)

TUNKHANNOCK — Eli Tinna hit a 2-out single that scored Michael Trowbridge and RTL notched a 6-5 walk-off win over Tunkhannock in the bottom of the sixth during District 15 Majors All-star baseball consolation bracket action Monday.

The win means RTL stays alive, and will face Allegheny Mountain on Wednesday in the consolation bracket final.

RTL jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a run in the first, and three more in the second. Tunkhannock put up two in the fourth, but RTL got one back.

A run in the fifth, and two more in the top of the sixth allowed Tunkhannock to tie the game up at five, before RTL’s heroics in the bottom half of the inning allowed them to prevail.

The win avenges their only loss of the season, 13-4 to Tunkhannock during the first round of bracket play. RTL also beat Tunkhannock, 6-3, in pool play.

Tinna (2-for-2) had a double with 2-RBI and a run scored, as Aiden Nystrand (2-for-3) also drove in a run.

Wesley Kershner (1-for-2), Seth King (1-for-3), Liam Salsman-Kluth (1-for-2), and Trowbridge (1-for-3) scored their runs, with Sawyer Yoder and Salsman-Kluth each getting an RBI.

Nolan Putnam (1-for-3) had a hit.

Putnam started, and went 4 2/3-innings with seven strikeouts. Tinna went the final 1 1/3-innings with three strikeouts.

RTL will host Allegheny Mountain in the consolation bracket final on Wednesday with a 6 p.m. start.
