YOUTH: TOWANDA MAJORS BASEBALL TOPS WELLSBORO TO STAY UNDEFEATED (2024-07-03)

WELLSBORO — Towanda Majors all-star baseball stayed undefeated, beating Wellsboro 5-2 in the fourth round of the District 15 winner’s bracket Wednesday.

The win means Towanda won’t play again until Sunday at Sayre as they await the winner of Wellsboro-Allegheny Mountain on Friday. Towanda will have two tries to win the District 15 title.


Towanda jumped out with three runs in the first inning. Wellsboro cut it to 3-2 with two runs in the top of the third, but Towanda got those back with two more in the bottom half.


They held Wellsboro scoreless over the next three innings to get the win.


Wyatt Jones (2-for-2) had a double with two runs scored, as Dempsey Stevens (1-for-2) had a triple with 3-RBI. 


Brayden Cox (1-for-1) scored twice with a triple and an RBI as Drew Maghamez (1-for-2) scored and drove in a run.


Jones started, going 2 1/3-innings with four strikeouts with Cox tossing the next two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout.


Nolyn Tuttle, pitched an inning with two strikeouts, as Hudson Nash pitched the final two innings, striking out one.
