YOUTH: TOWANDA MAJORS SOFTBALL LOSES TO SELINSGROVE (2024-07-04)

SUNBURY — Towanda Majors All-star softball rallied late but fell short against Selinsgrove, 8-6, in the consolation bracket of the Section III Tournament Thursday.

Selinsgrove got things started with six runs in the first, but Towanda rallied in the third with four runs. Selinsgrove pushed across runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-run lead. 

Towanda had some fireworks left, though, rallying for two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and got the tying run at the plate, but just couldn’t quite get over the hill.

Nina Gallagher (1-for-3) had a home run as Kinley Thoman (2-for-3) had 2-RBI with a run scored. Kaylen Sluyter (2-for-3) drove in two runs as Rhyann Kithcart (2-for-2) scored.

Taylor Aquilio (1-for-1), Lily Bartholomew (1-for-1), and Bristol Edsell all scored with Emilie Maynard (1-for-3) and Adaleigh Jankowsky (1-for-2) also getting hits.

Jankowsky started, with Thoman taking over in the first inning. She went the rest of the way with eight strikeouts.

Towanda ends the All-star season 6-3.
