LADY LIGHTNING BLUE GO 2-1 AT FIRST DAY OF EYOTA TOURNAMENT (2024-07-06)

APPALACHIN, N.Y. — The Lady Lightning Blue 16U went 2-1 at the first day of the Eyota Tournament Saturday.

They lost to Eyota Nation 3-1, but then beat The Dawgs 10-3 and Southern Tier Smoke 6-5.


Against Eyota Savannah Persun (2-for-3) had a multi-hit game as Gretchen Schmieg (1-for-2) scored the team’s run. Brooke Seiger (1-for-2) had an RBI as Olivia Thompson (1-for-2) and Kiarra DeLancey (1-for-2) each had a hit.


Makenna Callear started, going five innings with nine strikeouts, six hits, three walks, and two runs. Persun tossed the final inning, allowing one walk, and one run.


In the win over The Dawgs Madi Lord (2-for-3) had a double with 3-RBI and two runs scored as Schmieg (2-for-3) drove in two runs.


Thompson (1-for-2) had a double with a run scored as Persun (1-for-1) drove in two runs while scoring once.


Kynlee Kunkle, Seiger (1-for-3), and Callear all scored with DeLancey scoring three times. Ashlyn Neiley (1-for-2) and Kunkle each had an RBI.


Persun got the win, striking out eight with two walks, five hits, and three runs.


In the final game Hannah Berger (2-for-3) had a walk-off home run with 3-RBI as DeLancey (1-for-2) had a double with two runs scored.


Seiger scored twice with Thompson (1-for-2) also crossing home. Lord had an RBI with Callear (1-for-2) and Neiley (1-for-2) both getting hits.


Callear went the first four innings with two strikeouts, four hits, three walks and four runs, with Persun going the final inning, striking out one with one walk, and one run.


The Lady Lightning will play Impact Panthers White at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
