YOUTH: TOWANDA MAJORS BASEBALL ROLLS TO DISTRICT 15 TITLE (2024-07-07)
Northern Tier Sports ReportSAYRE — By the end of the District 15 Majors All-star baseball final Towanda left no doubt who the best team in the area was. They broke open a 4-4 game, out scoring Allegheny Mountain 11-2 over the final four innings, to win 15-6 to take the title.
Towanda led 3-2 after the first inning but Allegheny Mountain won the second inning, 2-1, to knot things up.
A 5-run top third from Towanda put them up 9-4 and they never looked back. After a scoreless fourth inning they out scored Allegheny Mountain 4-2 in the fifth for a 13-6 lead. They added two more in the sixth for the 9-run win.
Towanda pounded out 11-hit as Drew Maghamez (2-for-3) had two doubles, four runs scored, and 2-RBI. Dempsey Stevens (2-for-2) had a double, three runs scored, and 2-RBI, with Wyatt Jones (2-for-4) scoring a run.
Hudson Nash (1-for-3) had 2-RBI with two runs scored, while Cooper Aukema (1-for-2) drove in two runs while scoring once.
Nolyn Tuttle (1-for-3) and Cash Raffin (1-for-2) both scored and drove in a run, as Arlo Snyder (1-for-3) and Brayden Cox both scored.
The Section III Tournament starts a week from today hosted by District 13. District 15 will start by playing District 12.
