YOUTH: TOWANDA MINORS SOFTBALL COMES UP SHORT AGAINST ATHENS IN DISTRICT 15 TITLE GAME (2024-07-07)

WYSOX — It was a tight game early but a 4-run bottom four from Athens allowed them to pull away and beat Towanda, 9-3, during the District 15 Minors All-star softball final Sunday.

After a scoreless first Athens took a 2-1 lead in the second. Towanda got back to back runs in the third and top of the fourth to go up 3-2.

In the bottom half of the inning Athens pushed across four runs to take a 6-3 lead. They added three more runs in the fifth for the 6-run win.

Kinley Woodruff (1-for-3) scored, along with Natalie Dulaney and Lily Strope. Skylar Chilson (1-for-3) also had a hit.

Camden Buford started, and went 3 1/3-innings with four strikeouts. Strope came on for the final 1 2/3-innings with four strikeouts.

Towanda finishes the season 5-3.
