YOUTH: TOWANDA MAJORS BASEBALL GOES 0-2 AT SECTIONALS (2024-07-16)
Northern Tier Sports ReportThe Towanda Majors All-star baseball team went 0-2 at Section III play this past week.
They opened with a 16-0 loss to the Tri-town All-stars in four innings. It was 0-0 after one, and 1-0 after two before Tri-town got hot, scoring 15 runs over the next two innings.
Wyatt Jones (1-for-2) had the team’s lone hit while he started, going 1 1/3-innings with one strikeout. Brayden Cox went the next 1 2/3-innings with two strikeouts. After that Drew Maghamez, Hudson Nash, and Nolyn Tuttle all saw time on the mound.
They lost to Berwick 5-0, giving up three runs in the third, and two runs in the fifth. Towanda had eight hits in the game but couldn’t push anybody across.
Maghamez (2-for-3) had a multi-hit game, as Nash (1-for-3) had a double. Jones (1-for-3), Cox (1-for-3), Dempsey Stevens (1-for-3), Arlo Snyder (1-for-2), and Scout Nemeth (1-for-2) also had hits.
Jones tossed the first 4 2/3-innings with four strikeouts, while Nash finished the final 1 1/3-innings.
Towanda finished the season 6-2.
