NTL GOLF: THOMPSON GOES LOW TO LEAD TOWANDA AT NTL MATCH (2024-08-30)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda golfers edged NP-Mansfield on first tie-breaker to take second at the third NTL match back at Towanda Golf Course Thursday.
Both teams tied with 341 strokes, but Towanda’s fifth best score was 95 compared to 97 for NPM-Mansfield. Both teams were right behind Athens (338), who once again took first.
Wyalusing (361) came in fourth, followed by Wellsboro (380), CV (424), and Sayre (531).
Boom Thompson shot a 76 to lead the Knights, his score just one back of the day’s medal winner, NPM’s Andy Hermanson (75).
Thompson finished with a match high four birdies on the day, scoring on the par-4 sixth hole, the par-4 12th hole, the par-3 14th hole, and the par-5 15th hole.
Graham Welles shot an 82 with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole. Baylee Clark notched a 90 with a birdie on the par-4 first hole, Owen Savercool carded a 93 with a birdie on the par-4 11th hole, Owen Lane shot a 95 - which decided second place - and Josh Maye recorded a 108.
For Towanda’s six girls Payton Perry led the way with a 106, as Maddie Snell carded a 121.
Izzy Repsher finished with a 122, Rosie Glantz had a 124, Clara Glantz notched a 140, and Maggie Glantz rounded things out with a 149.
Towanda will be in action next Tuesday at Corey Creek with a 1 p.m. start.
