NTL FOOTBALL: JOHNS SCORES TWICE AS WYALUSING TOPS WELLSBORO (2024-09-06)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Wyalusing used a strong defensive effort to down Wellsboro 13-0 in NTL football action Thursday.
They needed to as the game was scoreless until 3:34 left when Dylan Johns ran in a touchdown from 18-yards out. Johns added another touchdown a minute-and-a-half later to seal the win.
Johns’ second run from was 30-yards out, with Jacob Girven adding the point after.
It was a defensive affair as the Hornets were held to just 71 total yards by Wyalusing, while the Rams amassed just 167 total yards. For the third straight week Wyalusing didn’t complete a pass, but did win the turnover battle 4-2.
Jesse Lamb had two picks for Wyalusing as Jonathan Earle grabbed one. Ethan Vanderpool led the Rams with 10 tackles, while Ayden Hunsinger had seven.
Johns finished with 106 yards rushing on 22 carries, while Hunsinger added 76 yards on 19 touches.
Ryder Bowen led Wellsboro with 63 yards rushing on 18 carries. Griffin Moral was 5-for-12 for 25 yards with Marek Mascho hauling in a 20-yard reception.
Wyalusing (3-0) hits the road for the third straight week as they travel to Montgomery next Friday.
