NTL BOYS' BASKETBALL: WAY LEADS WYALUSING PAST CANTON (2021-02-13)

CANTON — Isaiah Way had 20 points, three boards and two steals as Wyalusing held on to beat Canton 65-55 in NTL boys’ basketball action Saturday.

Grayden Cobb finished with 15 points and four assists for the Rams as Hunter Moss added 12 points.


Blake Morningstar had eight points and three rebounds with Mitchell Burke chipping behind six points, six boards and three assists.


Lucas Milne and Abram Bennett each had two points, as Bennett added three assists. Kashawn Cameron came away with four boards.


Isaiah Niemczyk and Cooper Kitchen had 16 points apiece to lead Canton, with Caiden Williams netting 11. 


Tyler Jannone scored four points, Cameron Bellows had three points as Brendan Matthews and Gavin Morse had two points each. Weston Bellows chipped in with one point.


Cobb had two 3-pointers in the first quarter to help Wyalusing to a 14-10 lead, though it was Niemczyk’s seven leading both teams.


The two teams were nearly even in the second quarter as five different Rams scored, led by Moss’s five points.


Kitchen nailed two 3-pointers in the second to help Canton stay with Wyalusing, down just 29-24 at the half.


A 20-point third quarter by the Rams, led by six points from Way and five from Cobb, gave them some breathing room, as they took a 49-38 lead into the final frame. Williams had five points to lead Canton.


In the fourth Canton came back, as they got to the free throw line 14 times, hitting 10 of them. Kitchen had eight points in the quarter, a 3-pointer and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.


However, Way had eight points in the quarter for the Rams, including a 4-for-4 performance from the charity stripe, to help Wyalusing stay ahead.


The Rams have a big divisional match-up with NP-Liberty on Monday, on the road, while Canton is at Athens on Thursday.
