AOW: CANTON'S FITCH, NEB'S O'CONNOR POST BIG WEEKS (2024-09-15)

Another big week of performances around the area, with Canton’s Ben Fitch and NEB’s Abby O’Connor lead ing their teams to big wins.

Fitch had five touchdowns and nearly 400 yards of total offense as he lead Canton to a thrilling 51-40 win over NP-Mansfield. Fitch was 16-for-26 for 294-yards with three touchdowns and a pick from the pocket, while running the ball 19 times for 96-yards and two scores. He also led the team in tackles with nine, earning this week’s Male Athlete of the Week honors.

O’Connor earned her 500th career kill in NEB’s exciting 3-1 win over NP-Liberty in a rematch of last year’s District IV, Class AA finals. O’Connor finished with 16 kills, two blocks, two aces, and a dig in that contest. She also had a double-double of 12 kills and 11 digs, plus four aces, and two blocks, in a win over Wyalusing earlier in the week, to be this week’s Female Athlete of the Week.
