NTL GIRLS' TENNIS: SHORTHANDED TOWANDA EDGES NP-LIBERTY (2024-09-16)

BLOSSBURG — Despite having to forfeit because they were down a player Towanda picked up a pivotal 3-2 win over NP-Liberty in NTL girls’ tennis action Monday.

The victory sets up an NTL clinching win on Wednesday when they host CV at 4 p.m.


“The girls played very well, I’m very proud of them,” said Towanda coach Lucy Snyder. “Lainey and Nadia Alderfer played outstanding.”


The Alderfer sisters made quick work of the first two singles matches for the Knights. At first singles Lainey Alderfer won 6-1, 6-0 over Annie Johns, while at second singles Nadia Alderfer won 6-0, 6-1 against Alyna Booth.


NPL’s Elna Hazleton won by forfeit at third singles.


Towanda’s duo of Emma Ackley and Maddie Blanchard would clinch the win with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Ellie Brion and Clara Kiesser at first doubles.


At second doubles Towanda’s team of Jenalee Coe and Dalila Vega lost in three sets to Olivia Burrows and Roslyn Williams, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
