NTL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: KINGSLEY, TAYLOR LEAD TROY PAST WILLIAMSON (2021-02-17)

TROY — Rachel Kingsley had a double-double as Troy overcame an early deficit to beat Williamson 49-30 in NTL girls’ basketball action Wednesday.

Kingsley finished with 13 points and 11 boards as Sydney Taylor had 17 points, six rebounds and three steals.


Katie Lackey had seven points and nine rebounds off the bench with Hannah Zimmerman and MaKenna Matthews scoring five points apiece. Bailey Johnson chipped in with two points.


Lateisha Peterson led Williamson with 14 points as Taylor Rae-Jones and Adelaide Schmitt had six points each. Abigail Root and Chelsea Hungerford both scored two points.


It was the Warriors taking the 12-9 first quarter lead as Rae-Jones, Schmitt and Peterson all had four points.


Troy rallied in the second out scoring Williamson 16-5 to take a 25-17 lead into the half. After going scoreless in the first quarter Taylor had 11 points in the second to spur the run.


The Trojans continued to hold the lead after the third, up 35-26, as Taylor had six third quarter points to go with Kingsley’s four.


Peterson nabbed five points to help keep Williamson within striking distance.


Troy would pull away in the fourth as the inside play of Kingsley and Lackey combined for 10 of their 14 points, while they held the Warriors to just four points in the final frame.


Troy will travel to Towanda today with a 6 p.m. start.
