NTL BOYS' SOCCER: TOWANDA RALLIES PAST NEB (2024-09-25)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda scored three goals in a span of 15 minutes during the second half as they rallied past NEB, 3-2, during NTL boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
Jack Wheaton, Ben Shrawder, and Nate West had the three Black Knight goals, with Wheaton also getting an assist. Connor Barnes also had an assist on the night.
Carsen Perkins had both NEB goals, one coming off an assist from Tyler Kuhn.
Perkins put NEB up with 24:38 on the clock in the first half for the 1-0 lead at the break.
With 29:15 on the clock in the second Shrawder got the equalizer. About six minutes later NEB went back up on Perkins’ second goal.
However, less than a minute after that, at 22:30, Wheaton tied the match up, then West put Towanda up with 15:13 on the clock.
“I was a little bit angry because of the goal, and everything,” explained Towanda keeper Blaiz Nichols. “But I feel like my team backed me up. They got the two goals for it after that, and I just felt amazing after that.”
Nichols got a save late to preserve the win as Towanda got the season sweep on the Knights.
“That felt amazing,” Nichols remarked.
Towanda out shot NEB 17-13 with Nichols and NEB keeper Gavin Puza had 10 saves each, with both teams getting four corner kicks apiece.
Towanda will travel to league leading Wellsboro on Saturday with NEB taking the trip down south to Montoursville.
