NTL VOLLEYBALL: TOWANDA HOLDS ON TO BEAT MOUNTAIN VIEW (2024-09-25)
Northern Tier Sports ReportTOWANDA — Towanda volleyball gutted out a 3-2 win over Mountain View in non-league volleyball action Wednesday.
“They just needed to pick up the intensity to pull out that win,” said Towanda coach Cassie Smith. “It’s tough, I’m not going to make excuses or anything like that - we played last night in Wellsboro - so a tough road game, and then playing back at home, it’s tough to come back from that. I was just thinking pick it up.”
Towanda started strong, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-18. Mountain View rallied with set wins of 25-11 and 25-18 to force a deciding set.
In the fifth Towanda eked out a 16-14 win to take home the victory.
Brynsen Vargason had 11 points, nine digs, two kills, and two aces for the Knights as Karis Flynn had 18 assists, five points, three kills, three blocks, and one ace.
Lariah Long finished with eight points, three aces, four digs, and three kills, as Brooklyn Evans had 13 kills, five blocks, nine points, an ace, and four digs.
Alyssa Dulaney notched five digs, three points, two kills, and an ace, with Caedence Wells getting five points, two aces, a kill, and a dig.
Layla Miller and Lillie Maynard had three digs each as LilyAnn Sproule finished with one dig.
Towanda JV defeated Mountain View 25-19 and 25-7.
Alli Hollett had two aces, and three assists, with London Decker getting an ace, a kill, and a dig.
Kylee Barnes had three aces, a kill, and a dig, as Hannah Crawford had eight aces, one kill, and a dig.
Addy Barrett had two aces with a kill as Alayna Rankin and Kendall Kellogg had one kill each. Nozila Ismailova had two digs with Reese Sullivan and Layla Longcoy getting one dig apiece.
Towanda will travel to Athens on Tuesday.
