NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: TROY BOYS EARN QUAD MEET SWEEP, CLINCH NTL LARGE SCHOOL TITLE (2024-10-01)
Northern Tier Sports ReportLAPORTE — The Troy boys’ team clinched their first NTL title since 2000, earning a quad meet sweep to win the cross-country Large School championship Tuesday.
Troy defeated Sullivan County (15-49), Canton (20-43), and Athens (22-37). Canton defeated Sullivan County (19-44), but fell to Athens (26-31).
Canton’s Lawrence Halbfoerster (18:16) was second behind Athens’ Graham Wanck (17:37).
Troy would take the next four spots with Frank Harper (18:53), Evan Geer (19:00), RJ Bellinger (19:41), and Mason Wulff (19:44).
Troy’s fifth, Lucas Loxley (19:57), came in ninth overall.
For Canton Manuel Halbfoerster (20:45) was 15th, Simon Wile (21:37) took 18th, Landon Lake (21:43) finished 19th, and Nehemiah Wolcott (22:01) came in 20th.
On the girls’ side Troy lost to Athens (19-44) and Sullivan County (20-37).
Troy’s Alyssa Parks (21:29) was second overall behind Athens’ Sara Bronson (21:24).
Also for the Trojans Kalynn Keltz (30:01) took 15th, and Sheridan Wilcox (31:15) was 16th.
In junior high girls’ action Troy claimed the Large School title with their win over Athens (20-39). They also beat Canton (18-41) but lost to Sullivan County (25-31).
Canton also fell to Sullivan (18-41) but beat Athens (9-12).
Earning top five finishes for Troy were Christine Ward (13:19) in third, and Annika White (13:21) in fourth.
Sarina Hess (14:13) was Canton’s Highest finisher in 10th.
In boys’ junior high action Troy lost to Sullivan County (19-44) but beat Athens (15-50) and Canton (15-50).
Kyle Kibbe (12:01) took second to lead Troy. Canton’s Carter Petrowski (17:12) was 13th.
