NTL CROSS-COUNTRY: TOWANDA GIRLS EARN TRI-MEET SWEEP, FINISH NTL SEASON UNDEFEATED (2024-10-02)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWESTFIELD — The Towanda girls’ cross-country team finished the NTL dual meet season undefeated with wins over Wellsboro and CV on Tuesday.
They claimed the NTL Large School title with victories of 20-43 (Wellsboro) and 15-50 (CV).
Towanda’s Izzy Larson (22:15) came in second behind Wellsboro’s Lauren Kosek (21:15). After CV’s Natalie Yonker (22:40) was third Towanda took the next seven spots.
Rounding out their top five were Mary-Kate Eberlin (23:04), Kenzie Brown (25:11), Hannah Petty (26:21), and Leila Cobb (26:35).
The boys’ team also got a sweep to end the dual meet season, beating CV (19-42) and Wellsboro (23-38).
Towanda’s Jack Tavani (19:41) was second behind Wellsboro’s Max Macias (18:57), with fellow Knight Jacob Carr (19:52) taking fourth.
The Knights then took 6-through-9 with Hagen Jones (20:18), Wyatt Stranger (20:49), and Jackson Frederick (21:00).
In junior high boys’ action Towanda took the first four spots, led by Emmett Klees (8:30). On the girls’ side Maris Cobb (9:01) won for the Knights though the team fell 27-29 to CV.
