TOWANDA — A late first half goal was the difference as Athens defeated Towanda, 1-0, during NTL boys’ soccer action Wednesday.

Zach Blackmon scored on a miscommunication in the box between the Towanda defenders and goalie, sneaking between the two to kick in the ball.

Towanda had a 10-9 edge in shots while Athens Zach Fisher got the clean sheet with 10 saves.

Towanda travels to Galeton on Saturday with a 10 a.m. start.
