NTL BOYS' SOCCER: NEB FALLS TO WILLIAMSON (2024-10-03)

Northern Tier Sports Report
ROME — NEB gave up a trio of first half goals in their 3-0 loss to Williamson during NTL boys’ soccer action Wednesday.

Three different Warriors scored - Aiden Ongil, Braeden Cowell, and Kayden Moon.

“We gave up a goal fairly early but we were playing decent up until then,” said NEB coach Scott Merritt. “Frankly, after giving up the first goal we played fantastic for 20 minutes, and really started controlling the ball, and making great attacks. Their back line did well and the goalie had some fantastic saves throughout the game.”

“Then, unfortunately we fell off pressuring the ball, and got sloppy with our passes,” continued Merritt. “We are struggling with making a few passes in a row without one of them being a bad pass or too soft or a bad receiving touch, and then having to defend again. Giving anyone more opportunities is never a good thing.”

Williamson out shot NEB 12-8 with the Warriors earning a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Gavin Puza made eight saves for the Panthers.

NEB will host NPL on Friday with a 4 p.m. start.
