LOCALS DO WELL AT JUNIOR HIGH GOLF TOURNAMENT (2024-10-03)
Northern Tier Sports ReportElk Lake hosted their inaugural junior high golf tournament recently, with 40 golfers from 10 different schools and an academy.
Towanda’s Jason Wickwire won the Division-I male title with 44 strokes, while Tunkhannock’s Chad Corby (45) edged out Elk Lake’s Parker Stone (45) for second in a putt off.
Wyalusing had three who competed - Noah Moss (57), Cameron Cole (61), and Aiden Price (65).
Athens’ Lilah Carlson won the Division-I female competition with 43 strokes, ahead of Elk Lake’s Hannah LaRue (49) and Lakeland’s Karli Davis (70).
The Division-II make winner was ASFL’s Jack Lengyl, who won a putt off with teammate Ryan Fagan. Both shot 46. Tunkhannock’s Liam Kern won a put-off to take third with a 48.
ASFL’s Penelope Peopper (46) won the Division-II female title over Elk Lake’s Kiera Griffiths (52).
