NTL GOLF: SAVERCOOL'S 82 LEADS TOWANDA AT FIRST DAY OF D4 CHAMPIONSHIPS (2024-10-03)
Northern Tier Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — Towanda’s Owen Savercool shot 82 at the first day of the District IV, Class AA Boys Golf Championships Thursday.
That was good enough to put him in a 4-way tie for fourth place as they all sat at plus-11.
Boom Thompson shot a plus-14 85 to be in a tie for eighth, while Baylee Clark shot a plus-15 86 to sit in a tie for 10th.
Graham Welles shot a plus-22 93 and is in 26th place, while Owen Lane carded a plus-23 94 to be tied for 27th. Lucas Vincent rounded out the Knights with a plus-32 103 to sit in 41st place.
Savercool finished with three birdies on the day, including back to back birdies on the par-5 18th, and the par-4 first hole. He also had a birdie on the par-5 6th hole.
Thompson didn’t have a birdie but did finish with eight pars on the day. Clark had birdies on the par-3 17th, and par-4 first hole.
Welles had six pars on the day, Lane had a birdie on the par-5 18th to go with one par on the afternoon, while had four pars on the day.
The top six golfers earn a berth to the PIAA Championships. Round two will be Saturday back at Williamsport Country Club with a 10 a.m. start time.
