Northern Tier Sports ReportA busy day ahead as team’s make up some games postponed by snow, with six games on the docket.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Towanda (12-2) at NP-Liberty (4-6), 6 p.m.: The Knights will be looking to stay undefeated in NTL basketball action Friday. They beat Wyalusing on Wednesday and have a 2-game lead over Athens in the loss column as they move that much closer to repeating as NTL champions.
Athens (13-3) at NEB (10-3), 6 p.m.: A rematch from the Panthers’ first game of the season, an overtime loss to the Wildcats. They will look to get some revenge tonight, while also picking up a lot of points for their playoff rating. Athens is battling for the top spot in the Class AAAA standings.
Troy (5-8) at Wellsboro (3-6), 6 p.m.: The Trojans are in the middle of a playoff push as they travel to Wellsboro to face the Hornets for the first time this season. These two teams will meet again next week as they battle each other for playoff positioning in Class AAA.
Canton (4-8) at Williamson (4-11), 6 p.m.: The Warriors will look to pick up a divisional win Friday. They recently beat Williamson in their last meeting at Canton.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
CV (3-11) at NEB (6-7), 5:30 p.m.: The Panthers will look to get to .500 for the first time this season after starting the year 0-3. A win here would help them solidify a home game for the district playoffs.
Canton (7-6) at Athens (9-7), 7:30 p.m.: The Warriors are coming off a 3-point win over Montgomery as they look to hold on to their third place standing in the District IV, Class AA standings. Athens is battling to get back into the top four in the Class AAAA standings.
